We start off the year with renewed energy. The new year is the time of year that we are supposed to change, the start of the year is the time to being anew, it feels like a clean slate.
With this sense of renewal there can also be a lot of pressure to make major changes or move forward quickly. I am going to urge you to stop and take a breath. I ACTUALLY MEAN TAKE A BREATH.
This time of year does not need to bring up the sense that you are not good enough, that you need to change or even a sense of anxiety.
The start of the year doesn’t mean you have to make sweeping changes.
The small, thoughtful, consistent changes are the ones that last. If you are really ready to change, start from a clear reason of why.
Do you want to change your fitness so you can feel better about yourself? Do you want a new career because you think it will make you happy? Do you want to improve your relationships because you are feeling lonely?
I am not here to tell you whether your reasons for change are valid, it is important to be clear why you want to change and decide for yourself if your reason is good enough.
Once you are clear why you want to change, start with looking at how you want this area to be and work backwards. Set monthly, weekly and daily inspired actions to get you to your goal. When your motivation wanes, remember why you want to change.
